Parenting Workshop Series: Social Self-Awareness

Presented by Robyn Bellinson, LCSW

services

For children who have been identified as having social-emotional difficulties, we have a unique evaluation and treatment approach. Using developmental, cognitive behavioral and emotionally focused interventions, we assess and design an individually tailored treatment approach that utilizes specific techniques to address social communication difficulties. We also use technology and visuals as tools to create social stories, to practice relaxation techniques and to teach impulse control and coping skills.

Your child’s treatment plan will be developed in coordination with parents, school professionals and doctors. We review all relevant evaluations and reports and use our own psychometric assessments. Most importantly, your child will spend a great deal of time learning about themselves, particularly about how they feel in social settings. They will assess their own strengths and weaknesses. As a team we will set goals to strengthen their awareness of themselves and others.

We will help your child build satisfying social interactions and relationships by strengthening these areas of child development:

N

Social Communication Skills/Language Pragmatics

N

Problem Solving, Flexibility and Cooperation

N
Perspective Taking/ Theory of Mind
N
Emotional Regulation
N
Executive Function
N
Family Functioning

Robyn Bellinson, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years experience as a psychotherapist, helping families through difficult times in their lives. My interest in human development, from early childhood through adulthood, led me to pursue post masters advanced training from psychotherapy institutes in New York City and Westchester County.

More about Robyn

I started my private practice in Union Square, NY where I worked with many college students on reducing stress, forming new relationships, adjusting to living independently and establishing their identities. Upon moving my practice to Westchester county, I developed a strong focus on child, adolescent and family therapy. In collaboration with parents, we develop a more complex understanding of their child’s emotional needs. I see many families who are overwhelmed when their children are struggling. Together, we find new strategies for each developmental stage, and help children learn to regulate their emotions.

In addition, I often hear children express that they feel more understood and accepted in their home life. This greater sense of security and connection in their relationships, allows children the ability to be more confident in academics, peer relationships and pursuing areas of interest.

Robyn Bellinson has a BA in Liberal Arts from the University of Maryland. Masters Degree in Social Work from Adelphi University. Post Masters Training at Ackerman Family Therapy Institute. Adult Psychotherapy Training at New York School for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. Child Psychotherapy Training at Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy.
